A material with visual weight
Instax Mini photographs are deliberately small. Rather than enlarging the image or surrounding it with ornament, Oddjoy gave the photograph a more substantial object to inhabit.
Stainless steel reflects its environment, changes through the day and gives the frame a presence beyond its footprint.
Why 304 stainless steel
The Memory Frame uses 304 stainless steel, a material commonly chosen for its corrosion resistance, durability and clean fabricated character.
It allows the object to remain visually precise while still showing subtle evidence of making, handling and light.
The orbital finish
The surface is finished with an orbital pattern rather than a single directional brush. The resulting texture breaks reflections into a softer, shifting field while retaining the character of metal.
Because the surface responds to its surroundings, the frame can look warmer, cooler, brighter or quieter depending on the room.
Folded from sheet
The form begins as sheet material and gains depth through cutting, bending and assembly. The folds create the frame's structure, edge profile and stance without disguising how the object was made.
This construction keeps the design direct: material, bend, opening and photograph.
Care without preciousness
Stainless steel is durable, but it records touch. Fingerprints and small handling marks are part of living with the material and can be removed with a clean, soft cloth.
Avoid abrasive cleaners. The aim is not to preserve a perfectly untouched surface, but to let the object age without losing its clarity.
The steel does not make the photograph louder. It gives a small image enough permanence to be noticed every day.
